Garden house
garden house is a new house in PRESTeignE, wales. the site is hidden from the main road by a protected 8m high row of conifers. The design aims to preserve a feeling of seclusion and to maximise the connection with the garden and surrounding vegetation. The consequence of a line of high trees to the South is that the site is overshadowed in the winter months. The house has been orientated north South to minimise the shadow it casts on the garden. It kinks to the east to align with the site and to turn towards the garage which is designed to resemble the house. a large full height living area sits between two internal gables with large openings to the garden on both sides. if the sun is out, there will always be a view from inside to a sunny patch of garden. the house is a soft wood panel frame with warmcell insulation. the roof covering is traditional sinusoidal profiled steel and the walls are clad in rough sawn oak battens sourced locally from the wyre forest. floor area 120m2 completed december 2016 |
