Greystead

a two storey extension to an existing cottage. 
the client wanted a new kitchen with large windows to give plenty of daylight and good access to the garden. the local authority wanted a traditional brick extension with a pitched roof and eaves to match the existing roof. c18th rural workers cottages did not have large openings. this project is exploring the mismatch between the traditional vernacular and the CONTEMPORARY requirements.
